Am I a Good Candidate?
If you’ve lost any amount of teeth, you’re likely a good candidate for dentures. If you’re only missing a few teeth, we will recommend a dental bridge or dental implants and dental crowns to replace those missing teeth. If you’re searching for a cost-effective tooth replacement option and you’re missing teeth, dentures are right for you. The only exception is implant dentures. For these, you must have sufficient jaw bone to hold the implants in place. If you don’t though, we can provide you with a bone graft to help.
Full and Partial Dentures
Full dentures are ideal for replacing an entire arch of teeth. Whether you’ve lost the top arch, bottom arch, or both, full dentures can help you replace your missing smile. The full type are held in place using suction and oral adhesives. They are easy to remove and should be removed, cleaned, and soaked in water every night while you sleep. Full dentures take some time to adjust to. We recommend starting with soft foods and working your way up foods that are harder to chew.
Partial dentures only replace a section of missing teeth by using adjacent teeth and clasps and hooks to stay in place. Although they are more cost-effective than dental bridges or dental implants, they don’t deliver the same results. Both full and partial are not fixed in the mouth which means they will always have some limitations. Some people find them uncomfortable or difficult to speak with or chew with. However, every patient is different. At the end of the day, having a full smile that can chew and look great is better than not having any teeth at all.
The last type we offer at Elevated Smiles are implant dentures. These use dental implants to hold themselves in place and are attached to the implants can either be fixed or removable. The implants help make wearing the dentures feel more natural for eating and speaking, help patients feel more confident in their smile and are also much more comfortable than traditional ones and help patients maintain their jaw bone for a youthful appearance. If you’re unhappy with your current pair or you need a missing tooth solution for your whole mouth, we highly recommend choosing implant dentures.
Getting them is a simple process. First, Dr. Saw or Dr. Luu will take impressions of your gums and/or any remaining teeth. We will send your impressions off to the dental lab where they will manufacture your replacement teeth. We also provide the dental lab with any notes or images that may help in the design of your dentures. Our ultimate goal is to provide you with a new smile that not only fit well but look amazing too. Once they return from the lab we will make sure they fit just right and make any necessary adjustments. Just like that, you’re ready to smile and eat confidently again!
